Announcements for 2-10-13

Lent officially begins on Ash Wednesday, February 13, 2013. We will once again gather on a weekly basis on Wednesday’s to journey with Jesus  to the cross. We will be rotating the services as well. Ash Wednesday will be at Britton UMC, February 20^th will be at Hecla UMC, February 27^th at Claremont UMC, March 6^th at Britton, March 13^th at Hecla, March 20^th at Claremont. The gatherings on Wednesday will begin at 6:30pm with the meditation/gathering first and then we will share in a light meal for a time of fellowship. Plan on being a part of these 40 days leading up to Christ’s Resurrection celebration.

A new Bible Study will be starting on February 14^th for Claremont UMC . It will meet on Thursday mornings at 9:30am at Merlene Dunlavy’s home (404 5^th Ave). The title of the study is “Faithful, Abundant, True” and is presented by Kay Arthur, Priscilla Shirer, and Beth Moore. This will be a 7 week study.

Marshall County Ministerial presents “Walk Thru the New Testament” on Saturday, March 2^nd at First Lutheran Church in Britton, SD. It will begin at 8:40am and end by 4pm. The cost of the presentation is $20 which includes a workbook and lunch. Call 448-5370 to sign up.

The Mission Team and children of Britton UMC will be focusing on supporting the Solar Oven Project for Haiti. The children will gather an offering of loose change each Sunday during Lent. The goal is to collect enough to buy ovens , the cooking equipment and cookbook. A solar oven will be set up in the entryway to see what you are supporting. Thank you in advance for supporting this vital project for the people of Haiti.

The Britton-Hecla youth group will be going to package meals at Kids Against Hunger in March.  The youth will be working at raising a donation of approximately $600 or more to cover the cost of the food that will be packaged. The youth will be serving the Lenten suppers on Feb. 13^th and March 6^th in Britton and on Feb. 20^th in Hecla. A free will offering will be accepted to help support the vital mission of feeding those in need in our country and around the world. Thank you in advance for your support of this vital project.

God’s love has produced many miracles, large and small. One of these is the life sustaining power of blood. We have the ability to share this miracle of life; to pass it along to others. The opportunity to share your healthy blood with those less fortunate will be on Monday, February 11^th from 11:30am to 6:00pm at Norstar Federal Credit Union in Britton, SD. Please call Kathy Erickson at 448-2900 to set up an appointment. Our church supports this blood drive to help our community and beyond.
