Thoughts to Ponder
Our sins can be forgiven and washed away, but their consequences are ours to pay.

Our annual Charge Conference will be held on Wednesday, November 17th with supper at and the meeting to follow at about . The meeting will be lead by our District Superintendent, Rev. Marilyn Spurrell. Plan on attending for a time of good food, fellowship, and a discussion on the goals and plans for our communities of faith. Committee reports are due by November 14th. (UMW, Education, PPRC, Trustees, Finance, Lay Leader)

Pastor Nancy will be out of town from November 25th through November 27th. If an emergency arises, please call her on her cell phone (605-359-2855 or 605-294-7388).  Voicemail will be checked at least once a day at the parsonage and the church.

Bishop Debra Kiesey has requested a Thanksgiving Offering be received to support the following ministries in the Dakotas Conference: Tree of Life, SE Pierre Community Center & UMC Church, Spirit Lake Ministry Center and Sioux Falls Community of Shalom at Wesley UMC.  Additional information regarding these ministries is available on the table in the entry way. Please prayerfully consider how God is asking you to respond to this request. The Thanksgiving Offering will be received on Sunday, November 21st.

November 28th is designated as UM Student Sunday. A special offering will be received to help fund scholarships for UM Students across the nation. The giving to this fund has been declining and this year approximately 1000 students were denied scholarships as a result. There are college students within our community who have received this help in the past, including Pastor Nancy for her seminary education. This is an important time to support our youth as they attend further education and discern how God will be working with, in and through them to spread the gospel.

Please bring your Shoebox Christmas donations to Claremont by Thursday, November 18th. Pastor Nancy will deliver them to North Highland UMC on Friday, November 19th. Thank you in advance for your generosity.

The Haiti Solar Oven Project UMVIM Team has rescheduled their trip as Hurricane Tomas has now passed through Haiti. The new dates are November 11-24. There are uncertainties as to the extent of the storm damage, but it appears to be less damage than was originally predicted.  The group will be gone for 14 days.  Please pray for the safety and success of this mission, PLUS the overall recovery in Haiti.  Look for future updates of the team's work while in Haiti.

Thank you to everyone who helped to make the Hecla Turkey Supper a great success. Whether you baked, served, donated, cleaned up or prayed for the event your participation in this community event is greatly appreciated. We are blessed to have each and every one of you in our community of faith.

Hecla UMC  will be decorating for the Advent and Christmas season on Sunday, November 21st after the worship service. Come and worship and then stay after to help with transforming our sanctuary into a reflection of Christ’s love. It’s a time of work, fun, laughter and fellowship that shouldn’t be missed. After the decorating you are invited potluck lunch.

Thoughts to Ponder
“As an  act of love, prayer is a courageous act. It is a risk we take. It is a life and death risk, believing in the promises of the gospel, that God’s love is indeed operative n the world. In prayer we have the courage, perhaps even the presumption and the arrogance or the audacity to claim that God’s love can be operative in the very specific situations of human need that we encounter.”
From “Healing of Purpose” by John E. Biersdorf

On Sunday, November 7th there will be a time of church wide cleaning in Claremont. A soup and sandwich lunch will be provided after the worship service. A list of duties to complete is on the table in the Narthex. Come and have a time of food and fellowship as we clean and polish the church for the year.

Undie Sunday’s are October 31st and November 7th. Donations of socks and underwear are being requested to send to the Tree of Life that serves those in need on the many reservations of the Dakotas. Please consider how you are able to help out with this request and bring your donations to the church on these Sunday’s. Baskets and/or Tubs will be available to place the items in. Thank you in advance for your generosity.

Hecla’s Annual Turkey Supper and Bake Sale is Sunday, November 7th beginning at at the Hecla Community Center. Food will be served until Come and enjoy a time of good food, fellowship and fun.

Claremont will observe and celebrate Consecration Sunday on November 14th. This is a time when we bring our faith commitment/pledges and place them before God and ask for God’s blessing for our community of faith.
The Faith Commitment (Pledge) cards will be sent out the first week of November. Please prayerfully consider how God is calling you to support the mission, service and ongoing support of  Christ’s church.

Our annual Charge Conference will be held on Wednesday, November 17th with supper at and the meeting to follow at about . The meeting will be lead by our District Superintendent, Rev.
