Opportunities to Grow, Serve & Share
The annual “Ingathering” has a new name and location. This year it will be called the Dakota Market Place and will be held at the First UMC of Sioux Falls. The format will remain similar with the addition of some things. Kits are once again being requested (school, health, sewing, fry bread, bedding, layette, birthing and shoe boxes). The date is Saturday, September 22nd. First UMC will be accepting the kits during the day from September 17th through the 22nd. Pastor Nancy is planning on attending so will be taking the kits to Sioux Falls. Please have all kits to the churches by September 20th or before.  

Sunday School begins September 9th at each church. Please be in prayer for the teachers and students as they a begin a new year of growing in their faith. Britton Sunday School begins at 8:30am, Claremont at 9:45am and Hecla at 10am.

Beginning September 1st the Dakotas Conference and the Minnesota Conference will share a bishop. Bishop Bruce Ough will be the new bishop. Bishop Kiesey has been appointed to the Michigan Conference. There will be opportunities scheduled to meet Bishop Ough in late 
September across the Dakotas. The dates and places will be in the September newsletter. Please be in prayer as the conference begins to share a Bishop with the Minnesota Conference.

Confirmation classes begin on Wednesday, September 11th at 6:30pm until 8pm. The first two classes will be held at Britton UMC. Confirmation will meet on the 2nd & 4th Wednesday’s of the month and will rotate between the churches each month. Please contact Pastor Nancy with questions/concerns.

Britton UMW will meet on Wednesday, September 5th at 6:00pm for a potluck meal followed by a planning
meeting for the year. Mark your calendars and be sure to attend and bring a dish to share.

Sermon topics: Pastor Nancy is looking for suggestions on sermon topics for the next year. Are there questions you have on the Bible or life issues? Please let Pastor know your thoughts and burning questions in regard to your faith. You may place your suggestions/questions in the offering plate, email them or write them out and leave them on her office desk.

The annual “Ingathering” has a new name and location. This year it will be called the Dakota Market Place and will be held at the First UMC of Sioux Falls. The format will remain similar with the addition of some things. Kits are once again being requested (school, health, sewing, fry bread, bedding, layette, birthing and shoe boxes). **The Spirit Lake Ministry Center in Sheyenne, ND indicates there is a need for school supplies for approximately 300 children. A special offering will be gathered today to send funds to assist in meeting this need. Prayerfully consider how God is asking you to respond.

The study began on Wednesday, August 1st at 7pm and there’s still time to be a part of the study. The address is 308 Oak St, Hecla. Invite a friend and be a part of this exciting and challenging study.

Request: Several people have indicated they have heard from folks that they have things they’d like to discuss with Pastor Nancy, however are unable to make office hours. Please call (294-7388) or email Pastor Nancy (nancyserving@gmail.com) and set up a time that is convenient for you. Pastor is more than willing to come at a time and place that works best for you. Please also let Pastor know of any hospitalizations, prayer requests and those who are in need of pastoral visits.

Mike Dinger, Hecla UMC, will be taking a couple of trailers filled with donations of clothing, furniture, toys and small appliances to Spirit Lake Ministry Center within the next week. He is searching for a volunteer or two or three to go along and assist with driving and unloading the trailers.(One full day trip) If you are able to help, please call Mike at 994-2149 for additional information.
