We continue to gather as a combined parish on a weekly basis on Wednesday’s to journey with Jesus to the cross. The place of each gathering is as follows:  March 6th at Britton, March 13th at Hecla, March 20th at Claremont. The gatherings on Wednesday will begin at 6:30pm with the meditation/gathering first and then we will share in a light meal for a time of fellowship.

The Mission Team and children of Britton UMC will be focusing on supporting the Solar Oven Project for Haiti. The children will gather an offering of loose change each Sunday during Lent. The goal is to collect enough to buy solar ovens , the cooking equipment and cookbook. A solar oven will be set up in the entryway so you can see what you are supporting. Thank you in advance for supporting this vital mission project for the people of Haiti.

The Britton-Hecla youth group will be going to package meals at Kids Against Hunger in March.  The youth will be working at raising a donation of approximately $600 or more to cover the cost of the food that will be packaged. The youth will be serving the Lenten supper on March 6th in Britton. A free will offering will be accepted to help support this vital mission of feeding those in need in our country and around the world. Thank you in advance for your support of this vital mission project.

A Bible Study will be started at Britton UMC on Wednesday, March 6th at 9:30am. The study is titled “Anointed, Transformed, Redeemed” and is six week study of David. There is a sign-up sheet on the bulletin board in the entry way for those who would like to participate or let Pastor Nancy know so the appropriate amount of books may be ordered. Everyone is invited to come and be a part of this study. Bring a friend as well.

Support the Marshall Co. Pantry Shelf and the Marshall Co. Healthcare Center Foundation with your Purchase of “Roses……Just Because!” Purchase a dozen long stemmed roses for $25 by March 8th. The flowers will be available for pickup on April 16th at the Marshall Co. Healthcare Center from noon to 5:30pm.  Place your order with Pastor Nancy or Norstar Federal Credit Union, Dizzy Blondz or the Britton library.

Announcements for 2-24-13

During Lent we will be gathering as a parish on a weekly basis on Wednesday’s to journey with Jesus  to the cross. The place of each gathering is as follows:  February 27th at Claremont UMC, March 6th at Britton, March 13th at Hecla, March 20th at Claremont. The gatherings on Wednesday will begin at 6:30pm with the meditation/gathering first and then we will share in a light meal for a time of fellowship. Plan on being a part of these 40 days leading up to Christ’s Resurrection celebration.

A Bible Study has begun for anyone from Claremont UMC . It  meets on Thursday mornings at 9:30am at Merlene Dunlavy’s home (404 5th Ave). The title of the study is “Faithful, Abundant, True” and is presented by Kay Arthur, Priscilla Shirer, and Beth Moore.

Marshall County Ministerial presents “Walk Thru the New Testament” on Saturday, March 2nd at First Lutheran Church in Britton, SD. It will begin at 8:30am and end by 4pm. The cost of the presentation is $20 which includes a workbook and lunch. Call 448-5370 to sign up or sign up on the sheet in the entryway.

World Day of Prayer is Friday, March 1, 2013. Both Claremont and Britton UMC’s will be hosting the service at 2pm at their prospective churches. A time of coffee and fellowship will follow the service. Plan on being a part of this day of prayer with our brothers and sisters in Christ.

Over the next several weeks the focus of the sermons will be based on the song “Lord of the Dance.” Today we will hear about the “Dance”, then the series will continue with “A Parable”, then “The Wronged”, then the “Wrong” and then we will talk about Judas, The Disciple Jesus Loved. Plan on attending and hearing the insights from the Word of God on how we can live by faith even when the “devil is on our back.”

Lent officially begins on Ash Wednesday, February 13, 2013. We will once again gather on a weekly basis on Wednesday’s to journey with Jesus  to the cross. We will be rotating the services as well. Ash Wednesday will be at Britton UMC, February 20th will be at Hecla UMC, February 27th at Claremont UMC, March 6th at Britton, March 13th at Hecla, March 20th at Claremont. The gatherings on Wednesday will begin at 6:30pm with the meditation/gathering first and then we will share in a light meal for a time of fellowship. God’s love has produced many miracles, large and small. One of these is the life sustaining power of blood. We have the ability to share this miracle of life; to pass it along to others. The opportunity to share your healthy blood with those less fortunate will be on Monday, February 11th from 11:30am to 6:00pm at Norstar Federal Credit Union in Britton, SD.
