We encourage you to adopt a Sunday school room to clean and organize or take on one or two of the many tasks that need to be done. Sign-up sheets for different areas will be posted this week. The tasks may be completed at any time before then as well; do it on your schedule.  Thank you in advance for your time and energy on this project.
Claremont UMC celebrates its 125th Anniversary this year.  On Sunday, November 24th the worship service will celebrate this milestone. Following the worship service there will be a potluck meal served. The meat (pork loin) and beverages will be provided. There will also be a short program about the history of the church. Mark your calendars and make sure to attend and join in the celebration. Bring a friend. After the festivities are completed, you are invited to stay and begin to decorate the sanctuary for the holidays.

Britton UMW invites the members of the church to bring non-perishable food items to be sent to the college students from our church. There are 11 students that will receive these packages to help them get through the long hours of studying for their final exams. This is a ministry of support and care to the young folks of our church. Please bring your items to the church by Dec. 1st.

The annual Angel Tree will be available beginning November 21st at the Wells Fargo Bank in Britton. This is an opportunity to give to someone in need.

Tuesday, December 3rd has been designated as Giving Tuesday. The General Board of Global Ministries has organized this one day of online giving to support any project of the United Methodist denomination. Those funds going to organizations under the Advance (Haiti Solar Oven Project & Tree of Life in the Dakotas) will be matched  up to $500,000 and/or  a maximum of $50,000 per organization; funds given on that day only. The Advance is our denomination’s giving channel that ensures that 100% of each gifts supports the project designated by the donor. There are more than 850 Methodist related projects and more than 300 missionaries supported by the Advance. The website is www.umcmission.org/give.  Mark your calendars and keep the website handy. Let’s begin our holiday season with giving rather than getting.

Impact World Tour is an evangelistic movement focusing on bringing the message of Christ to communities around the world. Britton will be hosting an event on Wednesday, October 9th at the Britton-Hecla Amacher Auditorium.  It takes many hands, hearts, prayers and funds to support this type of event. It is anticipated that there will be approximately 600 people who will attend the event. In addition to the event three special teams will be holding school assemblies in Britton-Hecla and Langford focusing on how to build character a couple of days before the event.  Each team has a different gift of speaking and entertaining (Polynesian dancing, skateboarding tricks, and power/strength demonstrations). While this may seem to be a doubtful way to bring the message of Christ to the communities, it has been proven to work very well and has impacted many lives for Christ. There are
opportunities to help make this a successful event. Some involve training to share our faith in Christ, some are organizing, some are participating in prayer groups, some helping with meals, some helping with ushering/setting up the stage, some are data entry. This is a wonderful opportunity to reach out to our community, both those involved in growing their faith and those who don’t personally know Christ. Please prayerfully consider how God is asking you to respond to this opportunity to spread God’s Word so that more youth/adults  will come to know God’s love, grace and mercy; so that they will become disciples of Christ; so that they are able, empowered and equipped to bring others to know God’s love as well. Many lives will be impacted by this event for God’s kingdom. Contact Pastor Nancy regarding any questions/concerns  and opportunities to serve.

Sunday, September 8th Sunday School will resume at 9:45am at Claremont UMC. Mark your calendar and invite the children and youth in your family and the community to come and be a part of this time of learning about Jesus and growing in faith. The children will be singing during the worship on that day. There will also be a POTLUCK lunch following worship to celebrate this wonderful day of new beginnings. Beverages and plates/utensils will be provided. Looking forward to seeing everyone there!!
Sunday School will begin at Britton UMC on September 8th, at 8:30am for 4yr olds through 6th grade.

Haiti Solar Oven Project
Montas Joseph, Haitian director of the Haiti Solar Oven Partners (HSOP), and Raymonde Joseph, HSOP training director, will visit 25 communities in the Dakotas during September 2013.
The Joseph’s are employed by Haiti Solar Oven Partners, a Brookings, SD-based mission of the Dakotas Conference of the United Methodist Church. Founded 14 years ago, HSOP is directed by missionary Rick Jost.
Montas & Raymonde will be in Britton, SD on Monday, September 9th at 2:30pm at the Britton UMC. Refreshments will be served.  Weather permitting (need lots of sun), Raymonde will bake a cake in one of the solar ovens and this will be served as part of the refreshments at event. Montas will present a short video and give a short presentation regarding the project and how it has been helping the Haitian people survive and thrive.  Come, bring a friend, and learn more about the project and how the funds raised this past spring were put to use and helped so many people.

God’s love has produced many miracles, large and small. One of these is the life-sustaining power of blood. We have the ability to share this miracle of life; to pass it along to others. The opportunity to share your healthy blood with those less fortunate will be on Monday, August 26th 11:00am to 6:00pm at the Britton Community Center. Please call Kathy Erickson at 448-2900 to schedule an appointment. Our church supports this blood drive for United Blood Services who supplements the blood need of our local and surrounding hospitals. On behalf of those who will benefit, thank you.

The Marshall County Ministerial is organizing an evangelism event for the youth of our communities. The event is organized through Impact World Tour, a division of Youth With a Mission. The event will take place on Wednesday, October 9th at the Britton-Hecla Amacher Auditorium.  This is a wonderful opportunity to reach out to our youth, both those involved in growing their faith and those who don’t personally know Christ. To help make this event a success many hands, many prayers and financial support will be needed. Please prayerfully consider how God is asking you to respond to this opportunity to spread God’s Word so that more youth will come to know God’s love, grace and mercy so that they will become disciples of Christ, so that they are able/equipped to bring others to know God’s love as well.

The Marshall County Ministerial is in the process of organizing an evangelism event for the youth of our communities. The event is organized through Impact World Tour, a division of Youth With a Mission. The event will take place on Wednesday, October 9th at the Britton Amacher Auditorium.  This is a wonderful opportunity to reach out to our youth, both those involved in their faith and those who don’t know about Christ. To help make this event a success many hands, many prayers and financial support will be needed. Please prayerfully consider how God is asking you to respond to this opportunity to spread God’s Word so that more youth will come to know God’s love, grace and mercy so that they will become disciples of Christ and then bring others to know God’s love as well.

The Marshall County Food Pantry will begin their school supply give away on August 9th. Donations of school supplies are being requested. The donations may be brought to the churches or to the Food Pantry at the Britton Community Center. In addition, financial support is also being requested to buy the items that are more expensive and that many teachers have been providing. This includes jump/flash drives, calculators, tennis shoes (required to have a pair for use in the gym only). Prayerfully consider how you will respond to this opportunity to help those in our communities who are less fortunate. Your gifts will impact the lives of many youth and help them to be better prepared to learn. Look for additional information in next week’s Britton Journal and Langford Bugle.

Reminding FYI: It has been a tradition at Claremont UMC to receive an offering at the coffee fellowship time. The gifts given at this time are used to help with camperships for our youth. The Foundation tracks the funds and distributes a portion of the camp registration to each camper. The amount provided is determined by the number of registrations and the amount that is received. The youth camps are a vital ministry for our youth, for growing in their faith and for meeting other UM youth from the Dakotas. These relationships often continue into adulthood. Many camps have helped youth to discern a call to ministry in various areas.

Vacation Bible School begins on Monday, July 22nd from 1pm to 4pm at Claremont UMC. Come one! Come All! The theme is Kingdom Rocks and promises to be an exciting and challenging time. The youth will be receiving an offering to support a mission project, the Bibles studies are interactive, the snacks are tied into the message for each day and the games and crafts are fun.  All young knights and maidens from Kindergarten through 6th grade are invited to attend Monday through Friday from 1-4pm. On Friday the festivities will conclude with a program and snacks. All adults are invited to come and see what the children have learned and experienced during the week.  PS: There are still openings available for additional volunteers to help guide the children through the afternoon and to support the leaders of each section of learning. Come and be a volunteer and be a conduit of God’s love in the same manner that others before you have done. What a mighty and amazing God we serve!!!
