Announcements November 17, 2013
Our Annual Charge Conference is scheduled for today, Sunday, November 17, 2013 at 5:00pm at Hecla UMC
. The meeting will begin at 5pm and a
light supper will be served afterward. Come, join in supporting our churches through
your presence and suggestions and then enjoy a time of good food and
fellowship.
Claremont UMC will be
undergoing a thorough cleaning the week of Nov. 18-23rd. We
encourage you to adopt a Sunday school room to clean and organize or take on
one or two of the many tasks that need to be done. Sign-up sheets for different
areas will be posted this week. The tasks may be completed at any time before
then as well; do it on your schedule.
Thank you in advance for your time and energy on this project.
Claremont UMC celebrates
its 125th Anniversary this year.
On Sunday, November 24th the worship service will celebrate
this milestone. Following the worship service there will be a potluck meal
served. The meat (pork loin) and beverages will be provided. There will also be
a short program about the history of the church. Mark your calendars and make
sure to attend and join in the celebration. Bring a friend. If you have
memories or stories of the church over the years, please send them to Pastor
Nancy (nancyserving@gmail.com) or
to Judy Pierson (jlpierson@nvc.net) by November 20th. If you know of
folks that were members or attended in the past and live in the area, invite
them to come as well.
After the festivities are completed, you are invited to stay
and begin to decorate the sanctuary for the holidays.
Britton UMW invites the members of the church to bring
non-perishable food items to be sent to the college students from our church.
There are 11 students that will receive these packages to help them get through
the long hours of studying for their final exams. This is a ministry of support
and care to the young folks of our church. Please bring your items to the church
by Dec. 1st.
The annual Angel Tree will be available beginning November
21st at the Wells Fargo Bank in Britton. This is an opportunity to
give to someone in need.
Tuesday, December 3rd has been designated
as Giving Tuesday. The General Board
of Global Ministries has organized this one day of online giving to support any
project of the United Methodist denomination. Those funds going to
organizations under the Advance (Haiti Solar Oven Project & Tree of Life in
the Dakotas) will be matched up to $500,000
and/or a maximum of $50,000 per
organization; funds given on that day only. The Advance is our denomination’s
giving channel that ensures that 100% of each gifts supports the project
designated by the donor. There are more than 850 Methodist related projects and
more than 300 missionaries supported by the Advance. The website is www.umcmission.org/give. Mark your calendars and keep the website
handy. Let’s begin our holiday season with giving rather than getting.
