Announcements for 2-24-13

During Lent we will be gathering as a parish on a weekly basis on Wednesday’s to journey with Jesus  to the cross. The place of each gathering is as follows:  February 27th at Claremont UMC, March 6th at Britton, March 13th at Hecla, March 20th at Claremont. The gatherings on Wednesday will begin at 6:30pm with the meditation/gathering first and then we will share in a light meal for a time of fellowship. Plan on being a part of these 40 days leading up to Christ’s Resurrection celebration.

A Bible Study has begun for anyone from Claremont UMC . It  meets on Thursday mornings at 9:30am at Merlene Dunlavy’s home (404 5th Ave). The title of the study is “Faithful, Abundant, True” and is presented by Kay Arthur, Priscilla Shirer, and Beth Moore.

Marshall County Ministerial presents “Walk Thru the New Testament” on Saturday, March 2nd at First Lutheran Church in Britton, SD. It will begin at 8:30am and end by 4pm. The cost of the presentation is $20 which includes a workbook and lunch. Call 448-5370 to sign up or sign up on the sheet in the entryway.

The Mission Team and children of Britton UMC will be focusing on supporting the Solar Oven Project for Haiti. The children will gather an offering of loose change each Sunday during Lent. The goal is to collect enough to buy ovens , the cooking equipment and cookbook. A solar oven will be set up in the entryway  so you can see what you are supporting. Thank you in advance for supporting this vital mission project for the people of Haiti.

The Britton-Hecla youth group will be going to package meals at Kids Against Hunger in March.  The youth will be working at raising a donation of approximately $600 or more to cover the cost of the food that will be packaged. The youth will be serving the Lenten suppers on March 6th in Britton and on Feb. 20th in Hecla. A free will offering will be accepted to help support this vital mission of feeding those in need in our country and around the world. Thank you in advance for your support of this vital mission project.

A Bible Study will be started at Britton UMC on Wednesday, March 6th at 9:30am. The study is titled “Anointed, Transformed, Redeemed” and is a study of David. There is a sign-up sheet on the bulletin board in the entry way for those who would like to participate or let Pastor Nancy know so the appropriate amount of books may be ordered. Everyone is invited to come and be a part of this study. Bring a friend as well.

World Day of Prayer is Friday, March 1, 2013. Both Claremont and Britton UMC’s will be hosting the service at 2pm at their prospective churches. A time of coffee and fellowship will follow the service. Plan on being a part of this day of prayer with our brothers and sisters in Christ.

Over the next several weeks the focus of the sermons will be based on the song “Lord of the Dance.” Today we will hear about the “Dance”, then the series will continue with “A Parable”, then “The Wronged”, then the “Wrong” and then we will talk about Judas, The Disciple Jesus Loved. Plan on attending and hearing the insights from the Word of God on how we can live by faith even when the “devil is on our back.”
