Thoughts to Ponder
“When you pray, you profess that you are not God and that you wouldn’t want to be, that you haven’t reached your goal yet, and that you never will reach it in this life, that you must constantly stretch out your hands and wait again for the gift which gives new life. This attitude is difficult because it makes you vulnerable.”
--From “With Open Hands” by Henri Nouwen.
The Youth Group of Hecla UMC & St. John’s Lutheran will be hosting a Baked Potato Supper on Sunday, March 13th. All proceeds will go to help fund the mission trips that are planned for this summer and next summer. Serving times are from and the cost is a free will offering.
Spring will soon be upon us, both on the calendar and in the melting of the snow. Flooding is once again a concern in our area. Planning for the rising water is going on around us. I encourage you to take belongings and place them on higher levels. The UMC Dakotas Conference is gearing up to be ready for needs as they arise. There are three things each of us can do to help out: 1.) Be proactive and purchase supplies ahead of time that will be needed to deal with the waters; 2) check with neighbors and friends to make sure they are ready and if they are unable to do the proactive activities to let Pastor Nancy know so help can be arranged for them; and 3) Continue to pray for strengthen and endurance. There is a free webinar available on March 22nd and 25th "Preparing Now for Resilience Before, During and After the Flood 2011 - The Important Role of Family Professionals". If you are interested in participating in the webinar please go to : https://umconnect.umn.edu/floodwebinar/. The webinar is approximately one hour long and is produced by members of the Ministry Team in Fargo and the surrounding area.
