Thoughts to Ponder
“When you say what God says (confession), you begin to think what God thinks (repentance). So let this [Scripture] be your confession of faith. And let it be the foundation on which you build your new life. This is not the power of positive thinking. It’s not your good thoughts that will turn your life around. God’s power will turn your life around. He’s just asking you to believe he is who he says he is, believe you are who he says you are, and then live like you believe those things. Does that mean bad things will stop happening? No. But it does mean you will experience many more victories than losses because the Word of God is at work in you.”                                            Rev. Buddy Owens, Saddleback Church

Join us for our first "Father Son Retreat" at Wesley Acres Camp, Friday March 25-27! This is a gathering just for the guys, a weekend filled with campfires, fellowship, indoor & outdoor fun. Bring your son(s) and father(s) of all ages - or your grandson(s), uncle(s), nephew(s), or an adult male mentor.  Register online at wesleyacrescamp.org and click on 2011 camps. Registration deadline is March 18 to allow time to complete the required background check for all adult participants.

Nominations Form:  Make a Difference with your gifts and talents
The new Platform for Ministry adopted at last year's annual conference is in the process of coming together.  In this process is the need for the formation of temporary task forces, committees and work groups.  The nomination committee has put together an application form that gives all clergy and laity an opportunity to express an area of interest in which they would be willing to serve.  If you are interested please contact Pastor Nancy for information on getting the form.

Hecla UMC: Plans are being made to paint the church in May. The Administrative Council is asking that you consider donating money toward the purchase of the paint. Donations can be made at any time by putting it in the offering and designating it as donation for paint or given to Judy Lloyd, financial secretary. Please prayerfully consider how you are being called to assist with this project—financially, labor, donation of equipment, etc. Everyone’s help is needed to make this a successful project. Thank you in advance for your help.

Lent is just around the corner. Ash Wednesday is March 9th. Claremont will have services at followed by a meal beginning on March 9th. A sign-up sheet is in the Narthex for volunteers. Hecla will be having services at in cooperation with St. John’s Lutheran and Trinity Lutheran in Houghton. Not all plans have been completed at this time. When the schedule has been completed it will be posted in the bulletin and newsletter.
