Thoughts to Ponder:
A difficult time can be more readily endured if we retain the conviction that our existence holds a purpose—a cause to pursue, a person to love, a goal to achieve.         John Maxwell

Hecla UMC will be priming and painting the church in May, weather cooperating. The approximate cost of the primer/paint is $1600. Trustees and the Admin Council are requesting donations to help with this cost, as well as volunteers to help with the painting over a couple of weekends. You may bring your donations and place them in the offering with a designation for paint or give the donation to Judy Lloyd. Thank you in advance for participating and helping with this project—your help (both of time and money) make a big difference.

Hecla began “Exploring the Fruit of the Spirit” by Beth Moore on Tuesday, May  10th. The next session will be Tuesday, May 24th at .  The study focuses on the characteristics of the Holy Spirit and how we are to live them out as faithful followers of Christ.

The Beth Moore study, “A Heart Like His-a study of David” began on Thursday, May 12th  in Claremont. The next session is on May 26th. It’s not too late to join in this study. Come and join in this study and grow in your faith.

Thoughts to Ponder
“Do you find yourself striving for good works to the point that you want others to know you by your actions? You may have developed a reputation for being someone responsible, creative, smart, or successful based on the things you have done. You want others to see the works of your hands. But Jesus clearly tells us, ‘It is the spirit that gives life; the flesh is useless.’ Quit striving for recognition based on your accomplishments and instead embrace the work of Jesus on the cross—it is by His actions that we have life. That is what we are to boast of; that is where we are to find our identity.”    From The Easter Experience Devotional’ Day 32

Thoughts to Ponder
For those who have faith in Jesus Christ, forgiveness has been promised. We are assured of His grace and mercy, knowing that no person can be found righteous on their own merit. Instead, we must each rely completely on the work of Christ on the cross. But so often we take that for granted. “Act now and ask forgiveness later” is our strategy for getting what we want out of life. But when we betray God on purpose, relying on His forgiveness later, we cheapen His tremendous sacrifice. Remember what He’s done for you this Easter season, and remind yourself that the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life.

Thoughts to Ponder
Worship of God must come from our spirits, from deep within. It is not an outward series of actions for others to notice. It is not even following the motions of tradition you’ve appreciated for years. Worship is a stirring in your soul that resonates with the truth of who God is. It is an inward movement, drawing you closer to God in the core of your being, for Jesus told the Samaritan woman that we must worship Him in spirit and in truth. Why? Because God is a spirit., He seeks those who will worship truly, not those who are just putting on a good show.
