Opportunities to Grow, Serve & Share

North Highland United Methodist Church, in conjunction with the leaders of Spirit Lake Ministry, is once again inviting us to participate in the Shoebox Christmas Project. Shoeboxes and donations need to be delivered to North Highland by November 21st. Please have the shoeboxes to the church by Sunday, November 18th so they can be delivered on time to Aberdeen. Thank you in advance for your generosity and your willingness to reach out to those in need.

Benefit Dinner AND Silent Auction for the Steve Glover Family on Sunday, October 28th, 2012 at the Hecla Community Center from 10:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.  The silent auction will close at 1:30 p.m.  Donations for the silent auction can be left at the Britton-Hecla Elementary office or Frohling Meats in Hecla.  An account has been set up at any First Savings Banks of SD for donations.   Steve had been fighting a chronic lung disease and was awaiting a lung transplant in Rochester.  He passed away Sunday, October 15.

Our annual Charge Conference is scheduled for Wednesday, November 14th. Britton United Methodist Church will be the hosting church this year. A meal will be served beginning at 6pm. The meeting will follow at 7pm. Everyone is invited (Britton, Claremont & Hecla folks) to attend and be a part of the planning of the church for the next year.

Reports for Charge Conference
To the chairs of Finance, Trustees, Christian Education, UMW and the Lay Servant Leader: annual reports for the Charge Conference are due in the church office by Monday, November 12th. They may be emailed to the church at claremontumc@nvc.net or to Pastor Nancy at nancyserving@gmail.com or left on Pastor’s desk. 

 Britton United Methodist Church will be having a Congregational meeting on Sunday, October 28th at 3pm. The topics of discussion are related to repairs needed on the parsonage and the church. Please be sure to join us for this important meeting and help the Trustees and Administrative Council make decisions regarding the needs. Your thoughts and suggestions are valued and needed. Coffee and dessert will be served after the meeting.

Hecla United Methodist Church will be having their annual Fall Turkey Supper on Sunday, November 4th from 5-7pm at the Hecla Community Center. Mark your calendars and come and enjoy good food and fellowship.

Claremont United Methodist Church is hosting a Harvest & Hunter’s Breakfast on Saturday, October 20th from 7:45am to 9:30am. Proceeds from the breakfast will help with costs related to updating the sound system. Mark your calendar and come and enjoy a time of food and fellowship. The youth will also be holding a silent auction of many kinds of items in conjunction with the breakfast to raise funds for the mission trip next summer.

Today we will be receiving a special offering to support World Communion Sunday. All proceeds will be used to provide scholarships for students going into ministry across the country. Please prayerfully consider how God is asking you to respond to this effort.

First United Methodist Church of Aberdeen will be hosting a 2 day video presentation of “Laugh Your Way to a Better Marriage” on Friday, October 12th from 7-10pm and Saturday, October 13th from 9am-12:30pm. Pastor Nancy will be attending the Leadership Institute Conference at UM Church of the Resurrection in Leawood, Ks from Tuesday, October 2nd through October 6th. If pastoral needs arise, please call her cell phone (294-7388).

The Marshall County Food Pantry will be having their annual coat give away the end of October. They are seeking donations of coats, new or gently used and snow pants. Please bring your donations to the church by October 18th.

UMW Prayer vigil is October 1; Claremont’s time is 2:00-2:45pm.  Please pray for an end to domestic violence.

The annual Ingathering has a new name and location. This year it is called Dakotas Market Place and will be held on September 22, 2012 at First UMC in Sioux Falls, SD. The format remains the same with auctions, gathering of kits for UMCOR, and lunch. Pastor Nancy will be going and will take any kits along. Please have the kits to the church no later than September 19th.

Our new Bishop, Bruce Ough, will be in our district on Sunday, October 7th at Fargo First UMC at 3:00pm. There will be a time of worship and of fellowship.

Claremont UMW invites you to attend a supper and program entitled “The Ties That Bind” on Wednesday, September 26th at 6:30pm. Tickets are $8 and reservations are necessary. Please call Merlene Dunlavy at 294-7805 or 294-5805 to make reservations.

The Bible Study “Embraced by God” will be held at BUMC on Wednesdays at 9:30am and at CUMC on Thursday’s at 9:30am. Come and be a part of this wonderful study about God’s love.

Britton UMW invites you to their annual Homecoming Pie Sale on Friday, September 21st after the parade. Mark your calendar and make sure you come and have a piece of homemade pie. All proceeds of the sale will go to support the Marshall Co. Food Pantry. See you there!!

Britton Fire Department invites you to come and have a pancake breakfast with them on Sunday, September 16th at the Fire Hall. Free will donations will be accepted
