Opportunities to Serve & Give
A special offering will be received today to support the work of the missionaries, Mike & Libby Flowers, at the Spirit Lake Ministry Center in Sheyenne, ND. Please prayerfully consider how God is asking you to respond with your financial gift.  

Opportunities to Grow in Faith
The BCH Youth Group will meet on February 8th at at Hecla UMC. Plans will be finalized for the ski trip, February 17-20th, at this meeting.

The second session of Leadership  training will be on Saturday, February 4th from at Claremont UMC. The training is from the Leadership Institute that Pastor attended in September 2011. All are invited to attend and grow in Christian leadership skills so that God will be glorified in our communities of faith. Please let Pastor know if you will be attending so the appropriate amount of food will be available.

Marshall County Ministerial is sponsoring a one day retreat entitled “Walking Through the Old Testament” on Saturday, March 3rd at First Lutheran Church in Britton, SD. This retreat is for ages kindergarten through fifth grade and for those in sixth grade and adults. This is an interactive study and is fun and will help you grow in your knowledge of the Old Testament. You will be mightily blessed by this retreat. Registration forms are now available for the event on the tables in the entryway. You may also contact Marcia Haaland or Carol Bush for additional information. Childcare will be available at First Presbyterian Church that day. Scholarships are available to cover the cost of the retreat. 6th grade through adult $20, Kindergarten through 5th grade $15. 

Lent is just around the corner. Ash Wednesday is on February 22nd. We will be having Lenten services each Wednesday through the season of Lent at . The services will rotate between the churches and will be preceded by a light meal at for those who are able to make it and also coffee fellowship following the service.

On Sunday, January 29th a special offering will be received to support the Spirit Lake Ministry Center in Sheyenne, ND. Missionaries Mike & Libby Flowers will be giving the message on that Sunday. Plan on being there and be a part of God’s work in and through our churches and our conference.

There will one more leadership training opportunity provided  on Saturday, February 4th from at Claremont UMC. The training is from the Leadership Institute Pastor attended in September 2011. If you missed the first one, but would like to learn, contact Pastor Nancy to set a time up to watch the DVD portion of the training. Even if you missed the first one, you may still attend the second. Please let Pastor know if you will be attending so the appropriate amount of food will be available.

The Marshall County Cancer Support Group will meet on Sunday, January 22nd at at the First Presbyterian Church. Pastor Terrill Sorenson from First Lutheran will speak to the group.

Marshall County Ministerial is sponsoring a one day retreat entitled “Walking Through the Old Testament” on Saturday, March 3rd at First Lutheran Church in Britton, SD. This retreat is for ages kindergarten through fifth grade and for those in sixth grade and adults. This is an interactive study and is fun and will help you grow in your knowledge of the Old Testament. You will be mightily blessed by this retreat. The cost of the retreat is $20 for adults and $15 for children. Posters and registrations forms will be out soon.  


Feb. 11-- Debi Nixon, one of the executive directors at Church of the Resurrection in Leawood, Kansas will be at The Faulkton United Church on Saturday, February 11, 2012. She will present a one-day workshop based on her book, Catch: Attracting and Connecting Visitors. If you have questions contact Bill Hoffman at revwilly3@gmail.com. Registration forms are also available in the entryway of each church. Pastor Nancy will be attending and invites others to join in this interesting topic.  The cost is $20 and includes the cost of snacks and lunch.

Opportunities to Serve & Give
A sign up sheet is posted on the bulletin board of Claremont UMC to sign up to sponsor the mailing of the newsletter in 2012. The monthly cost is $40. There is an area to designate the newsletter in memory or in honor of someone and it will be put on the mailing page of the newsletter. Please sign up soon and then the sheet will be taken to Hecla for any remaining months. Thank you in advance for your generosity.

Opportunities to Grow in Faith
The BCH Youth Group will meet on January 11th and 25th at at Britton UMC. Mark your calendars and come be a part of the evening of fun. Information regarding the upcoming ski trip in February will be provided at the meeting.

On Sunday, January 8th Tyson Frohling will be confirmed in Hecla UMC and Lily Cutler, Mason Hanse, Lincoln Gibbs and James Pierson will confirmed in Claremont UMC during the worship services. Please be in prayer for the youth as they begin final preparations to confess their faith before the congregations and become members of the body of Christ.

Pastor Nancy will be on vacation from January 10th through January 17th. She will return on January 18th for office hours in Britton UMC. If a pastoral emergency arises while she is gone; please contact Rev. Jack Erickson at 605-448-2900. Voice mail will not be checked on a regular basis while pastor is on vacation.

God’s love has produced many miracles, large and small. One of these is the life sustaining power of blood. We have the ability to share this miracle of life; to pass it along to others. The opportunity to share your healthy blood with those less fortunate will be on Monday, December 19th at the Community Building in Britton, SD from to . Please call Kathy Erickson at 605-448-2900 to set up an appointment. Our church supports this blood drive for United Blood Services who supplements the needs of our surrounding hospitals. On behalf of the patients who will benefit, thank you.

Youth (grades 6-12) of Britton, Claremont and Hecla are invited to attend a “Snow Camp” at Wesley Acres Dec. 27th through the 30th. Please let Pastor Nancy know as soon as possible if you are interested in attending this fun event. Deadline is December 15th to register. Cost is $120.

The youth and children of Britton UMC will present their Christmas program on Sunday, December 18th at . Be sure to come and be a part of this celebration of Christmas lead by the children.

Prayer list and announcements for December 11th



Opportunities to Serve
   The Britton-Claremont-Hecla Youth group will be helping the Marshall County Food Pantry fill the Christmas boxes on Thursday, Dec. 15th. We will meet at the Britton Community Center at . After we are done, we will return to the church for snacks/beverages. Two or three adults are also invited to help out as the youth fill the boxes. Please let Pastor Nancy know as soon as possible if you will be able to attend so arrangements can be made to have enough assistance for the project.

Claremont UMC will be hosting their 3rd Annual Night of Music on Sunday, December 11, 2011. The evening will begin with at meal of turkey, dressing and all the trimmings and then followed with a time of Christmas Music.  Sign up sheets to help with the event and to provide food donations are on the entry way table. If anyone is interested in participating in the music portion of the evening, please contact Pastor Nancy (294-7388) or Carol Hanse (294-5369).

Opportunities to Serve
The practice for the Britton Community Area Christmas Cantata will be on Wednesdays at in the choir room of the Britton-Hecla School. Practice will be every Wednesday until Dec. 21st.

The Britton-Claremont-Hecla Youth group will be helping the Marshall County Food Pantry fill the Christmas boxes on Thursday, Dec. 15th. We will meet at the Britton Community Center at .
